Color My World: The Magic of Paint and Hues for 2020
When Chicago sang “Color My World” did they have any concept of the role that pigments, hues, stains, and tints play in our lives? Most of us are sensitive to color and the impact it has on our environment. Painting a room can completely change the ambiance, mood, lighting, and experience of that space.
Color is one of our favorite design elements, so we look forward to sharing the new paint collections from Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, and Farrow & Ball.
The Magic of Paint
Updating a space can be as easy as choosing a new color. In a kitchen, you can paint the walls or refresh with a new stain or wash on cabinetry. A kitchen renovation in Rhode Island received a wonderful update by changing the cherry cabinets to a pure white. See before and after below.
Benjamin Moore 2020 Color of the Year: First Light
The Benjamin Moore 2020 Color of the Year - First Light - is a blush pink that is soft and flattering to the skin. A lovely choice for a bathroom or bedroom. The rest of the palette is soft with deeper contrasting colors.
Sherwin Williams Color of the Year: Naval SW6244
We’re thrilled that Sherwin Williams has chosen Naval as their color of the year because we’ve already used it in an award-winning project, recently published in Boston Home. The base cabinets in this South End kitchen feature Sherwin Williams Naval. We love how it mixes well with the brass highlights in the hardware and light fixtures.
Farrow & Ball’s Colour By Nature Collection
One of our favorite new paint collections is from Farrow & Ball in collaboration with the Natural Museum of History in Great Britain: Colour By Nature. The hues are rich and notable. Inspired by Werner’s Nomenclature, each color has a representation in the natural world of an animal, a vegetable, or a mineral.
