Blue Belles – Blue Elements in KV Kitchen Designs
Blue elements have been popular in KitchenVisions designs. We call these our Blue Belles. One of three primary colors, blue has had a long history in art and culture. Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, truth, faith, tranquility and calmness.
It’s no wonder that the hue has been used in a variety of ways – from cabinetry to tile to countertops – in our homes. Although true blue tends to be bright, there are many blues in the spectrum from baby blue to dark navy. Between green and violet on the visible spectrum, blue has a relatively short wavelength of between 450-500 nanometers. Most of us see blue easily.
True Blue Kitchens
We’ve used blue as a contrast to the white cabinetry, as a focal point, and as an accent color, used sparingly. In this South End kitchen, white on upper cabinetry takes the eye up to the high ceiling, while the SW Naval on the lower cabinets ground the space. A pleasant contrast is created and then accented with gray paint, brushed bronze hardware and warm alder wood on the open shelves and custom island that is used for prep as well as dining.
Striking blue-dyed granite countertops and blue glass inserts in upper cabinet doors are playful elements in a mostly white palette in this Brookline kitchen makeover. Note that there are several blue hues working together here, but nothing jarring or wildly out of the spectrum.
The blue island (painted in SW Bracing Blue) is the focal point of this Wellesley kitchen remodel. The peninsula of the L has storage on both sides, and a waterfall edge with an LG Viatera Karis veined quartz countertop.
A blue beverage center in Nimbus by Siteline Cabinetry contrasts with the white and gray elements in the rest of this Danvers kitchen renovation. The design by the KitchenVisions team reconfigured the first floor to open up the spaces to one another, improving the flow throughout the home.
Blue Works in Bathrooms, Too
This master bath is a symphony of blue. The mosaic in the shower and the blue tile on the floor provide a tranquil space for showering and grooming.
Coming next, look for green hues and earth tones and warm wood colors. Ready to begin planning your renovation? Let’s talk.
