Project Spotlight: Mini & Modern in Brooklyn
Of all the projects we’ve done, handling a remodel - Mini & Modern in Brooklyn - for Jodi’s daughter, Dana, and son-in-law, Dan, was one of the most rewarding. Reconfiguring their space was challenging but satisfying. It also gave Jodi an excuse to visit!. The completed project was published on the Apartment Therapy blog, written by Dana.
The one bedroom, 925-square-foot condo in Brooklyn included a galley eat-in kitchen, a large living/dining area and a full bath. There was no closet in the oversized foyer, or an in-unit laundry, both of which were on the wish list. Another requirement was a home office/junior bedroom. The good news is that the original floorpan provided plenty of opportunity to carve out everything on the wish list.
Demolition began in October 2016 with part of one wall in the living room removed and the existing kitchen and baths gutted. The original kitchen space was divided to create space for the home office/junior bedroom. A new closet plus a pantry were created in the foyer. Three separate closets in and outside of the bedroom were made into one large, fabulous closet with two sets of double doors - his and hers.. Laundry was added near the renovated and expanded bath. Best of all, the new kitchen optimizes every square inch available with plenty of storage to the ceiling and a well-organized work triangle. The maple veneer cabinetry features Cabico Unique flat panel slab doors with a modern vibe, stained Ebony. The bathroom features a hanging vanity.
Here is the new floor plan that shows how we reconfigured the space.
